Private schools are not always better?

I enrolled my daughter in a "highly regarded" private school starting this year (6th-12th grade). communication is near impossible with the teachers... I emailed both her Science teacher & band teacher least Wednesday to rearrange her schedule & never heard back from either of them- I called this morning to contact them & whan I finally got the band teacher on the phone he told me, "yeah, I havent checked my email in awhile". also the athletics department is very "last minute"- sometimes not notifying us on a game until literally the night of the game. Is this typical of private schools?
