Linguistics question about drawing phrase structure trees?

Hi, I'm a freshman in college taking a linguistics course, and I have to draw a PS tree of "The children gave the dog a bone." and I'm not sure how to do "a bone" when you break off from the NP to the det and the N, "the dog". where does "a bone" go? does it branch off the VP or the NP? or the S?
