The jet fuel was just an igniter; there was a mive enough amount of other combustible material in the buildings to reach the critical temperature. The clean straight-down collapse was actually what would you expect from a building with this design; mive floors anchored to the outer steel shell - it will naturally pancake once one of the floors fail, as long as the floor is high up enough. If a much lower floor failed, then there would be a slight chance of a more sideways collapse.
